New employers - register first
For new employers the first step to start using UQ CareerHub is to register online and you will be notified by email when your registration has been approved. Please note your organisation only needs to register once. When your registration has been approved, enter your username and password to LOGIN to advertise jobs and events online.

Creating your profile
A profile of the organisation is created when filling in the registration form, which then sets the choices to select from when it comes time to advertise a job or event. Please note you are able to ‘Edit Details’ in your profile when you login. There are three important categories used to create the employer's profile which allows you to target students by their:

  • CAREER STAGE (i.e. students’ stage of study)
    • Initial year/s undergraduate student
    • Penultimate year undergraduate student
    • Final year undergraduate student
    • Postgraduate student
    • Recent graduate
    • Alumni

  • DISCIPLINE - there are 18 disciplines (e.g. commerce, engineering and law) listed in UQ CareerHub. For more details see 'Disciplines & Study Areas'.
  • STUDENT TYPE
    • Domestic
    • International

To make multiple selections in each of these three categories hold down the 'CTRL' key and click with the mouse.

Fill in the job or event form

LOGIN with your username and password, then click on the link ‘Add a job’ or ‘Add an Event’. However, if your contact details are not already in UQ CareerHub and you wish to receive the email notification when the job has been approved, we recommend to ‘Add a Contact’ before filling in the job form. Then all you need to do is select your ‘Contact’ details in the job form, otherwise the approval notification will go to the email address specified in registration form. Please note these contact details are not seen by the students.

Suggestions for filling in the job form:

  • Include your Company name with the Job Title
  • SUMMARY field - state who you are looking for (e.g. ‘We are seeking students in their final year of study in the disciplines of…’)
  • DETAILS & APPLICATION PROCEDURE fields can include:
    • Bullet points by typing an '*' at the beginning of each line
    • Hyperlinks for both web and email addresses.

  • Hyperlink(s) back to your website in the ‘Detail’ and/or ‘Application Procedure’ fields. There needs to be enough information, but not extensive, in these fields for students to make a decision whether or not to visit your website for more information and apply online etc.

  • Must make at least one selection in each of the CAREER STAGE, DISCIPLINE & STUDENT TYPE categories.

Event form – like advertising jobs online, this will be an easy and effective way to advertise your upcoming event or presentation. Depending on the type of career event, you can select from one of the following three categories in UQ CareerHub:

  • Careers Fair
  • Employer presentation
  • Industry Networking Event
  • Information Session

Please click on the following link for information about arranging on-campus presentations.
