Application notes

  • Planning and understanding what is required will help you prepare an effective application, strengthening your chance of being selected for an interview.
  • Please review the rules to check your eligibility for specific scholarships (including the addendum/s).
  • If applying for multiple opportunities, you only need to submit one application – you will have the opportunity to identify all the scholarships you are interested in.
  • When completing the online application form:
    • Commencing students are not able to save progress, and the form may timeout if completion takes too long.
    • Current UQ students must be logged in, in order to save your progress.
  • All applicants must complete ALL steps mentioned below and combine supporting documentation into 1 pdf file, using the following filename format: 'SURNAME_FirstName_Current/Commencing.pdf'
    e.g. 'JONES_Michael_Commencing.pdf' OR 'HUANG_Jennifer_Current.pdf'

PREPARING YOUR APPLICATION

STEP 1: Prepare your resume

  • Include a skills summary, showing alignment with Liveris Academy Graduate Attributes
  • Include up-to-date contact information and ensure the email address you provide is correct and one you access regularly
  • When highlighting your achievements and abilities, be specific and use clear and concise language.
  • Proofread your documents for formatting, spelling and grammatical errors.

STEP 2: Prepare a cover letter

Your cover letter must be addressed to Professor Tim Kastelle, Director, Liveris Academy, The University of Queensland - maximum one single-sided A4 page.

Your cover letter should explicitly address the four following points:

  • Why you would like to be a member of the Liveris Academy
  • Your leadership potential
  • Two key qualities that you will bring to the Liveris Academy
  • The perceived benefits you would receive from being awarded a scholarship.

STEP 3: Documentation of Academic Achievement

Commencing Students are required to submit a copy of your Semester 2, Year 11, report and your Semester 1, Year 12, report.

Current UQ Students are required to submit a copy of your SI-net Study Report, demonstrating your current GPA. This can be downloaded from SI-net – it is not necessary to submit an official UQ academic transcript.

STEP 4: Short written responses

Please prepare short written responses to the following questions - each response must be no more than 200 words.

Q1. Provide an example or examples of extra-curricular activities you have participated in during the previous 2 years. Explain how these activities have made an impact on your community and how this would help you as a Liveris Academy Scholar at UQ.

Q2. Provide an example of a significant challenge that you have faced when working as a team and how you applied your leadership skills to overcome the challenge.

STEP 5: Record a short video

Prepare a short video to explain how you believe you can contribute towards creating a sustainable future as part of a cohort of effective and inspiring leaders.

Your video must be:

  • No longer than 1 minute in length
  • Accessible to our Selection Panel from the time of submission until the end of January 2027, to enable decision makers access during the deliberation period
  • Please submit a functioning URL for your video later in the application form.

NOTE: It is your responsibility to ensure video can be accessed by our selection panel; if your link is not accessible, your application will not be accepted.

We recommend using YouTube to upload and share your video with us. To ensure your privacy, you will need to adjust the video setting to "Unlisted". By adjusting this setting, the video is only visible to those who have the link. The video will not appear to viewers who visit the Videos tab on the channel page. It also won't appear in YouTube search results unless it is added to a public playlist.
