The Careers Team at UQ are hosting their 7th Annual UQ Volunteer Expo on from 10:00am – 1:00pm on this Wednesday the 5th of August in the Holt Room, opposite the Pizza Café as part of National Student Volunteer Week. We have 35 organisations attending from Queensland’s premier arts event the Brisbane Festival, Surf Life Savers, Victoria Barracks Historical Society and the Mater Hospital through to Young Care, Conversation Volunteers and Playgroup Queensland. Students can enjoy a shot with our tennis charity Return Serve, pat a rescued RSPCA puppy or kitten or indulge in sugar rush thanks to our free fairy floss. Opportunities range from one-off event volunteering roles through to extensive project work.
Careers advisor and Volunteer Expo organiser Rebecca McIntosh said, "the Volunteer Expo is a fantastic way for students to gain experience and give back to the community." Students can gain really diverse experiences to spice up their resumes and which differentiates them from other graduates when they are searching for jobs.For international students its also a great way to build networks and improve their spoken English skills in a professional office setting."
